Assistant Engineer, prov.
Description of Duties
This entry-level engineering position is responsible for assisting with the design and study of municipal facilities. The Assistant Engineer is responsible for components of municipal engineering projects and programs. Work may involve areas of traffic engineering, highway, bridges, stormwater, environmental, wastewater, construction, or other municipal engineering fields. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of an Engineer or other higher-level staff member. General supervision may be exercised over Junior Engineers, Engineering Aides, and Engineering Technicians. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field; OR,
- Graduation with an Associate’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in engineering; OR,
- Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience defined in (B) above; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
