Charter for Monroe County’s Community Diversity Advisory Council
Monroe County’s Community Diversity Advisory Council (CDAC) is a collaboration between Monroe County Government, Community and Faith Based Organizations that serve diverse populations to address the gaps in communication between government and constituent groups of all backgrounds.
In order to narrow the gaps in communication, Monroe County created the CDAC to assist with distributing and receiving information through various organizations regarding events and resources available through Monroe County government. An additional benefit is each agency will have a wider audience to make a greater impact with their community programs.
Purpose
The CDAC’s purpose is to ensure communication across as many community groups as possible. We are seeking to reach people that may not utilize social media and prefer more grass roots connections through organizations where they have established trust.
Mission Statement
To foster communication between Monroe County government and the many communities we serve and improve connections and collaboration between the many community groups/agencies within the county.
Committee Goals
- Work to establish channels for sharing and disseminating important information through community groups.
- Promote community projects related to health, wellness, education and grant opportunities
- Advise organizations on how to navigate county government processes for funding projects or developing events as it relates to employment and business opportunities.
- Increase access for community members’ to engage with Monroe County government by hosting events at community agencies.
Commitment
The committee will meet quarterly for 90 minutes, In-between quarterly meetings, a member of Monroe County’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team will meet with each member organization to discuss specific needs of their communities and brainstorm ideas.
