August 2025 enplanements the highest this century
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced 371,775 passengers flew out of the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) during the summer of 2025. The 371,775 enplanements during the months of June, July and August are the highest total since the summer of 2007 when 391,623 boarded flights. Enplanements are recorded as paying passengers who board a flight from ROC to other destinations. The 130,315 enplanements in August were the highest summer monthly number since the 1990s.
“Airports are engines of economic growth, and the busier they are, the better,” said County Executive Bello. “The dramatic rise in people traveling from ROC is directly related to our investments in the terminal, parking improvements and other amenities, which make the airport as convenient and stress free as possible for travelers. The traveler boost is also due to our ongoing efforts to bring in new airlines with new destinations to and from ROC. This year alone we added non-stop routes to Raleigh/Durham, NC; Nashville, TN; Wilmington NC; Lakeland, FL; and Charleston SC. Next year we’re adding Florida non-stops to Fort Myers and Sarasota.”
Mirroring enplanement growth, deplanements, or those flying into ROC from other airports, also saw strong growth with the highest numbers since 2007. Altogether, 742,924 passengers traveled to and from ROC over June, July and August.
“Airlines make decisions on where to put their planes and what routes to fly based on passenger demand,” said ROC Airport Director Andy Moore. “The more people fly out of ROC, the more flights and non-stop routes we can attract to business and leisure destinations.”
