As families across the nation continue to respond to the evolving substance use crisis, the Monroe County Department of Public Health, the City of Rochester, Facing Fentanyl and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New York Division are holding a free Substance Use Family Summit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at East High School, 1801 E. Main Street, Rochester.
The summit will bring together families and community members with substance use professionals, parents and peers with a focus on education, connection and support. Discussions will include current drug trends, overdose prevention, grief and loss along with recovery and stories of hope.
“Families across Monroe County are navigating the challenges of substance use every day, and they deserve clear information and support they can trust,” said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “This summit connects people to real resources, practical guidance and a network of care. By working together, we can strengthen prevention, support recovery and help more residents find a path forward.”
“Hope and opportunity are a powerful combination," said Rochester Mayor Malik D. Evans. "I encourage all families navigating substance abuse to join us for this free summit to receive resources and support from partners at every level of our government and community. Let’s face this challenge together.”
While the summit is free, people are asked to register in advance at cityofrochester.gov/substancesummit by Wednesday, April 15. All registered participants will receive lunch and a t-shirt.
