The renovated lodge expands capacity, adds modern amenities and improves accessibility
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today opened the newly renovated Kanatota Lodge in Webster Park. The lodge formally existed as two separate rental facilities, and the conversion into one unified lodge has made the space more attractive, welcoming and 100% ADA compliant.
“As we approach our County Parks system’s 100th anniversary, we are investing in accessible infrastructure to ensure our parks can be enjoyed by Monroe County residents and visitors for another 100 years,” said County Executive Bello. “Having an inclusive space to host gatherings, events, and other celebrations is important, and we’re proud to bring this to the community with Kanatota Lodge.”
This project is part of County Executive Bello’s Go Outside Monroe Initiative, a $16.6 million investment in the Monroe County Parks system. Go Outside Monroe has renovated and improved the County’s 22 parks, focusing on increasing ADA accessibility leading up to the Monroe County Parks system 100-year anniversary in 2026. Other ADA accessible projects and amenities recently added to Monroe County parks include an accessible canoe and kayak launch at Churchville Park and inclusive spray park and accessible playground at Ontario Beach Park.
“For nearly a century, our County parks have been places where families gather and memories are made, and today, they are more accessible than ever before,” said Legislature President Yversha Román. “The transformation of Kanatota Lodge is part of ongoing work to ensure county facilities meet ADA standards so every resident, regardless of ability, can enjoy these spaces with dignity and ease. As we approach the 100th anniversary of our Parks system, we continue to invest in renovations that remove barriers and create welcoming, inclusive environments for generations to come.”
"The County Executive and the Parks Department have made the creation and enhancement of recreational spaces a priority, thereby increasing the quality of life in our community,” said Legislature Majority Leader Michael Yudelson. “Equally important, these improvements continue to ensure that our facilities are available and accessible to all."
“Webster Park is one of our community’s greatest treasures, and this renovation ensures even more families can enjoy it for generations to come,” said Legislator Mark Johns. “Making Kanatota Lodge fully accessible and modernizing this space reflects our commitment to improving quality of life and investing in the long-term future of our parks.”
“The Kanatota Lodge renovation adds one more high-quality amenity to our outstanding array of options for our community to congregate and celebrate,” said Legislator John Baynes, Chair of the Recreation and Education Committee.
