Survey aims to capture the needs and concerns of Monroe County businesses in light of the COVID-19 pandemic

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, in conjunction with the Monroe County Department of Planning and Development, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and Greater Rochester Enterprise, has released a COVID-19 Economic Impact survey for area businesses. Fast Forward Monroe aims to capture the needs and concerns of Monroe County businesses, which have had to adjust to new guidelines, procedures and regulations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"COVID-19 has changed nearly every aspect of our lives, but especially how we work and conduct business every day. I have heard from many business and community leaders who have growing needs and questions about bringing their workforce back to the office in a safe and responsible way," said Bello. "This survey will help make sure Monroe County government can answer those questions and provide the support and assistance our employers require to succeed as we continue to adjust to a new way of life in the COVID-19 pandemic."

Local employers will be encouraged to fill out this brief questionnaire throughout the month of August. Responses will help Monroe County identify and develop programs and initiatives to support businesses in reopening and retaining/hiring workers. The survey will also shed light on the changing dynamics of workplaces in Monroe County, including remote or in-office personnel, childcare service needs, PPE requests and supply chain or productivity disruption. The survey will also help the Monroe County Department of Planning and Development create a long-term economic development strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Earlier this year the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce conducted a survey among our members to identify where businesses needed support the most. When we shared the results with County Executive Bello and his administration, they answered by offering grants and loans which in turn helped hundreds and hundreds of employers and employees. The survey being released today is yet one more way County Executive Bello is meaningfully engaging the business community as we look toward recovery. On behalf of Finger Lakes region companies, I want to thank him for his genuine commitment to rebuilding our economy by substantively and consistently soliciting feedback from area businesses," said Bob Duffy, President and CEO of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

"We are happy to support County Executive Bello as we work together to support business growth in the Greater Rochester, NY region," said Matt Hurlbutt, president and CEO, Greater Rochester Enterprise. "The GRE team can connect business leaders to the resources they need to thrive in our community."
