Available in English and Spanish. To change the language, click the language icon in the upper-left corner of the survey. Paper copies are available at events, with a stamped return envelope provided.
Student Survey
The student survey helps us learn how kids get to school, what makes walking and biking harder, and how they think about safety. It is mainly given to students at school, but teachers and families can also download it here. It takes about 10 minutes and is written for students in grades K-12. Younger children may need an adult to read the questions aloud.

For Teachers
Print one copy per student and set aside about 20 minutes of class time.
Read the questions aloud for younger grades as needed.
Collect the completed forms, then scan and submit them using the steps below.
For families
Download and print the survey or fill it out on paper.

How to Scan and Submit
Scan the completed survey with a free phone app (for example, the Notes or Files app on iPhone, or Google Drive on Android) or a copier and save it as a PDF.
If you do not have access to tools that allow you to scan, please take photos of the answers and submit below.
Check that every page is included, and the answers are readable.

Public Meetings
Three public meetings will be held during the project. Meetings are an opportunity for the project team to introduce the program, share what we are learning, and gather feedback on the draft materials and pilot approach.

Experiential Events
Hands-on events give students and families a chance to practice safe walking and biking and to build excitement for getting to school actively. Events will be held in the fall and spring of the 2026-2027 school year at participating schools, or tied to existing community events, and when possible are timed with National Walk and Roll to School Day (held in October and May).
- Bike Rodeos: Guided practice with helmet use, stopping, scanning, signaling, and safe riding.
- Walk to School Events: Walking school buses, bike trains, on-campus activities, and remote drop-off walks.
