Leisure Services Specialist
Description of Duties
This is a professional position at Monroe Community Hospital responsible for assisting in assessing needs of geriatric and long term care residents regarding recreational and leisure activities and overseeing the provision of services. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Resident Programs and Lifestyle Service.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services*, Gerontology, Music Therapy, Art Therapy or Dance Therapy, Psychology, or Sociology; OR,
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A), plus two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent** experience providing recreational activities, physical education, or art, dance or music therapy; OR,
- Four years work experience as defined in (B) above; OR,
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above.
Special Requirements:
If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
*for the purposes of these minimum qualifications, Human Services includes, but is not limited to, Social Work, Social Welfare, Counseling, Educational Psychology.
