Fire Prevention Educator
Description of Duties
This position, located in a Fire District, is responsible for programs regarding fire prevention, fire safety education and community outreach. This position develops and facilitates outreach programs with local businesses, schools, and civil organizations within the surrounding town. The employee works under the direction of the Fire Chief or other higher-level staff member.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma PLUS either:
- An Associate’s degree and three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in
the development and implementation of a fire safety and/or crime prevention program; OR
- Five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience, as outlined in (A) above; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
