Junior Project Engineer - Water Distribution

Description of Duties

This is an entry-level engineering position involving participation in the design and construction of water supply facilities.  The employee may perform field work and other related engineering support tasks.  The employee works under the general supervision of a Project Engineer or other senior-level engineering staff member. Supervision of others is not a regular responsibility of this class, although employees may direct the work of technical and support staff for specific projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam: 

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; OR,

2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, plus three (3) years of paid full time or its part time equivalent* experience in civil design or construction.
