Police Lieutenant
Description of Duties
This is an important supervisory law enforcement position in a Police Department of a town or village involving responsibility for either precinct command or watch command or special assignments. Work is performed in accordance with New York State law, local ordinances, and the administrative policies and procedures of the Department. Direct supervision is exercised over Sergeants, Police Officers, civilian personnel and may be exercised over a Lieutenant.
Minimum Qualifications
Towns of Gates, Irondequoit, Webster and the Village of Brockport:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at one of the above agencies and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Police Sergeant immediately preceding the date of the written test.
Towns of Brighton and Greece:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Towns of Brighton or Greece and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for eighteen (18) months holding the position of Police Sergeant immediately preceding the date of the written test.
