Police Lieutenant
Description of Duties
This is an important supervisory law enforcement position in a Police Department of a town or village involving responsibility for either precinct command or watch command or special assignments. Work is performed in accordance with New York State law, local ordinances, and the administrative policies and procedures of the Department. Direct supervision is exercised over Sergeants, Police Officers, civilian personnel and may be exercised over a Lieutenant.
Minimum Qualifications
Towns of Brighton, Gates, Irondequoit and Webster and the Village of Brockport:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at an agency listed above and must have served continuously for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Police Sergeant immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.
Town of Greece:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Town of Greece and must have served continuously for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Police Sergeant or Detective Sergeant immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.
