Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced new hours for the rapid COVID-19 testing sites run by municipalities in partnership with the County Department of Public Health.
Additionally, he announced that Rochester testing has been moved from Joseph C. Wilson Magnet and Benjamin Franklin high schools to Joseph C. Wilson Foundation Academy, 200 Genesee Street to accommodate the expected reopening of city schools.
“We are committed to continuing the free community testing that helps us find asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 and ensure individuals are not inadvertently spreading the virus,” said County Executive Bello. “These sites are a key component of our strategy to help keep our community safe and healthy. After reviewing data related to peak use of our testing sites, we are adjusting site hours to better reflect community need and to ensure our resources are being used efficiently. We are not reducing the number of available appointments.”
Testing sites are located in Rochester, Irondequoit, Brighton, and Gates. Each site offers self- administered COVID-19 rapid tests, provided to the municipalities by Monroe County and New York State.
Individuals who wish to be tested may make an appointment through the county portal at www.monroecounty.gov/health-covid-19-testing. Appointments open each Friday at noon for slots the following week. Walk-ins are accepted at all locations except Brighton. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
