119th season kicks off Friday with FREE rides through Memorial Day
County Executive Adam Bello today announced the opening of the historic Dentzel Menagerie Carousel at Ontario Beach Park for the 2025 summer season and invited Monroe County families to enjoy free carousel rides through Memorial Day, May 26. This year will be the carousel’s 119th season at the Park.
“The Dentzel Menagerie Carousel in Ontario Beach Park has brought joy to countless families who have taken rides on the hand-carved wooden animals,” said County Executive Bello. “Every year we start off the season with a weekend of free rides for any visitor to Ontario Beach Park, so we hope that our residents will get out there and enjoy this beautiful piece of Monroe County history.”
The Carousel’s 2025 Operating Schedule is as follows:
Memorial Day Weekend – Open Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26 (FREE rides)
Post-Memorial Day until June 20 – Open Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
June 20 through Labor Day – Open Daily (7-Days per Week)
The Carousel’s 2025 Hours of Operation are noon - 7 p.m. (Opening Day through Labor Day, September 1).
The Carousel’s 2025 Price Schedule is as follows:
All rides FREE Friday, May 23 – Monday, May 26
Rest of Season:
Single Ride – $1
Punch Card (12 rides for the cost of 10) – $10 **Valid Any Time**
Wrist Band (Ride All Day) – $5
As part of planned improvements announced in 2022, the Carousel has gone through several renovations in the off-season. As part of this work, the floors throughout the facility have been repaired and refinished, an updated sound system has been installed with the ability to make live voice announcements and play modern digital music files, and a new lighting system is in place, which allows for the building to be themed to various holidays.
