Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport today announced that the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2026 A.P. Property Services Rochester International Airshow on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, 2026. Joining the USAF Thunderbirds in the program will be the United States Marine Corps F-35 B Jump Jet, and the United States Army Golden Knights, other exciting aerial performers, and a variety of static displays.
“Monroe County and the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport are honored to once again welcome the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds for this special two-day performance,” said County Executive Bello. “This is a great opportunity for our community to see the expert flying of the Thunderbirds up close, as well as a number of other thrilling aerobatic performances.”
The USAF Thunderbirds began demonstrating the Air Force’s front-line fighter capabilities in 1953 and have since embarked on tours around the world. The unit has participated in a number of milestone events, including the 1986 rededication flyby of the Statue of Liberty and the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympics in Atlanta. An eight-pilot Air Combat Command Unit, the USAF Thunderbirds’ demonstrations include a mix of formation flying and solo routines. Demonstrations will highlight the F-16 Fighting Falcon, a highly maneuverable and high precision fighter.
Rochester has been fortunate to host the Thunderbirds six previous times when they were the featured act at ROC Airshows in 1995, 2005, 2008, 2014, 2019, and 2023. The Thunderbirds are the official air demonstration team of the United States Air Force and are stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The 2026 Rochester International Airshow is once again presented by title sponsor A.P. Property Services. A.P. Property Services was founded in 1990 by a young man with a dream.
