Supervisor of Signal Construction, prov.
Description of Duties
This is a supervisory position in the Monroe County Department of Transportation responsible for planning and managing traffic signal construction programs involving the installation and servicing of traffic signals, highway lighting and related equipment. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in confined spaces and/or at various heights and involves the operation of vehicles that require a Class *B* Commercial Driver’s License. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Chief Transportation Engineer or other higher level staff member. General supervision is exercised over Electronic Technician(s), Senior Signal Mechanic(s) and other staff performing technical and mechanical work, as well as overseeing contract work. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely related field, PLUS four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in municipal traffic signal construction AND installation, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR,
(B) Six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in municipal traffic signal construction AND installation, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, OR;
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
