Description of Duties

This is a professional graphic and digital media specialist position located at the Department of Communications and Special Events responsible for developing innovative ways of engaging the public utilizing various digital media and engagement strategies for Monroe County government.  Duties involve managing digital communications assets including, but not limited to, a website, social media channels, e-mails, and multi-media presentations while working with the communication team to implement effective presentations and digital communication.  Duties also involve coordinating and/or participating in the development of original visual digital media, and graphic designs while overseeing the quality, visual presentation and aesthetics of the final product.  Duties are performed using state-of-the art graphic design and digital media software.  Work is performed in close coordination with the County Executive’s Office.  The employee reports to, and works under the general supervision of the Director of Communications and Special Events or other higher level staff member.  Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

PROPOSED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, photojournalism, advertising, digital media, or graphic arts/design field plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in digital media engagement; OR,

(B)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part time equivalent experience in digital media engagement; OR,

(C)  Six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in digital media engagement; OR,

(D)  An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
