Description of Duties
This position, in the Department of Finance, Division of Real Property Tax Services, is responsible for assisting in the promulgation of duties of the Director of Real Property Tax Services. Duties involve assisting with the maintenance of a comprehensive real property tax service program including assisting in providing accurate, timely information and advice on real property appraisal, equalization and assessment. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Director of Real Property Tax Services. General supervision is exercised over professional staff such as Tax Map Supervisor and Tax Map Technician.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience in the assessment of real property for tax purposes or conducting research and data analysis of real estate tax documents; OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree, plus six (6) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as described in (A) above; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
