Deputy Sheriff Road Patrol - Lieutenant
Description of Duties
This position is responsible for the overall command of a shift within a zone or specialized unit in the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The position differs from Deputy Sheriff Road Patrol-Sergeant by virtue of the increased level of supervision and responsibility for handling more complex situations that require a higher level of decision making. Deputy Sheriff Road Patrol-Lieutenants report directly to, and work under the general supervision of, a Deputy Sheriff Road Patrol Captain with wide leeway allowed for independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Monroe County Office of the Sheriff and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months holding the position of Deputy Sheriff Road Patrol - Sergeant or Deputy Sheriff Investigator Sergeant immediately preceding the date of the written test.
A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
