The Monroe County Environmental Management Council (EMC) is part of the Monroe County Department of Public Health. The mission of the EMC is to be a credible source of information on environmental issues. The Council will use its expertise to develop sound solutions to preserve and protect the rich and diverse environment in Monroe County. The EMC serves in an advisory capacity to various governmental agencies and works closely with the public on many environmental issues.
EMC Membership and Meetings
EMC members include representatives from city, town, and village Conservation Advisory Councils or Conservation Boards within Monroe County, additional residents of the county who serve as members at large, and members of the County Legislature. The EMC meets monthly, generally on the third Wednesday of the month, from September through May. If you are interested in becoming a member of the EMC, please call 585-753-5209 or e-mail us. Youth Environmental Management Committee
The Monroe County Youth Environmental Management Committee (YEMC) is a special-issue committee within the Monroe County Environmental Management Council composed of environmentally-focused students from Monroe County high schools, with support from their school faculty. The YEMC recommends and supports solutions, and advises and informs the Environmental Management Council, schools, and community on the conservation, protection and use of the environment. This is done for the benefit and enjoyment of the present and future inhabitants of Monroe County.

Aerial Photographs
The EMC maintains a collection of historic aerial photographs from 1930, 1951, 1961, 1970, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1988, 1993, 1996, and 1999.
