Medical Investigator, Part-Time

Description of Duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A)  Two (2) years of full-time paid or its part-time or volunteer equivalent experience in forensic medical-legal investigations, forensic laboratory work, or as a Forensic Attendant; OR,

(B)  Three (3) years of full-time paid or its part-time equivalent or volunteer experience as an ambulance attendant, firefighter or in paramedic activities or related work*; OR,

(C)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in one of the Life Sciences**, Criminal Justice, or Mortuary Science; OR,

(D)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State approved School of Practical Nursing or Registered School of Nursing; OR,

(E)  Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), (C) and (D) above.

* For the purpose of these minimum qualifications, related work includes but is not limited to laboratory work involving the performance of microbiological analysis or other medical laboratory duties, X Ray Technicians, Physicians Assistants, Dialysis Technicians, or Nursing.

** Life sciences for the purpose of these minimum qualifications, includes fields of science that involve the scientific study of living organisms, like plants, animals, and human beings.  Life Sciences include, but are not limited to Biochemistry, Bio-engineering, Biology, Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacology, Plant Sciences, etc.
