Digital Media Technician (HELP Program)
Description of Duties
The Digital Media Technician is responsible for the collection, preparation, and presentation of digital media in support of criminal prosecutions and other D.A.’s Office functions. Primary duties of the position include: Using multiple platforms for locating, downloading, and distributing digital media from police agencies, including body-worn camera footage, digital photographs, and surveillance video, for use in court proceedings; Serving as a liaison to law enforcement agencies regarding the transfer and handling of digital evidence; Setting up, operating, and maintaining audio/visual equipment for courtroom presentations and other events; Recording video of statements, interviews, events, and presentations as needed; Utilizing specialized software to edit and produce video compilations and multimedia presentations for courtroom use; Creating and printing maps and other visual aids for use at trial; Responding as needed to crime scenes after the fact to capture supplemental photographs. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior D.A. Investigator or other higher-level staff member. Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Media Production, Digital Media, Media Arts, Video, Photography and Digital Media, Graphic Design, Cinematography, Film/Video/Animation, Computer Graphics, Visual Communications, Photographic Communications or other media arts field; OR,
(B) Two (2) years paid full‑time or its part‑time equivalent experience in analog and digital media that included the utilization of video and audio editing equipment; OR,
(C) Two (2) years paid full‑time or its part‑time equivalent experience in ALL of the following: the utilization of computer software for presentations, web design, graphic manipulation and creation, video effects, animation and sound effects; OR,
(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
