Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today joined Assemblymember Jennifer Lunsford (AD-135) and other elected officials to open a new dog park at Webster Park with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The project was funded by a $250,000 grant secured by Assemblymember Lunsford.

“The addition of a dog park at Webster Park is the latest in our efforts to upgrade and modernize our parks system with fresh amenities that reflect the needs of our entire community,” said County Executive Bello. “Thank you to Assemblymember Lunsford and the Town of Webster for your partnership on this project.”

The nearly 1.5-acre dog park is located along Lake Road in the Town of Webster. It includes agility equipment and drinking stations. There are separate areas for large dogs and small dogs.

“Dog parks are the kind of amenity that helps build community while ensuring the safety of our favorite furry residents,” said Assemblymember Jen Lunsford. “Dog parks allow dogs and dog-owners alike to enjoy a leash free park experience. I am happy to have been able to provide state support for the construction of this new space.”

Monroe County Department of Parks also hosts off-leash dog areas (Dog Parks) at both Ellison and Greece Canal Parks. Each dog visiting must be a registered member of the Monroe County Dog Parks. More details on the registration process are available online at https://www.monroecounty.gov/parks-DogParks.

Numerous improvements have already been completed throughout the county’s 23 park system as part of the ongoing Go Outside Monroe Parks Revitalization initiative, including: newly paved roads, roof replacements and repairs at lodges and shelters; renovated bathrooms; lighting upgrades; new pickleball courts at Black Creek Park; and structural repairs at facilities including Sandpiper Shelter at Ontario Beach Park, the Robach Community Center. A spray park and accessible playground are under construction in Ontario Beach Park.
