Regular Maintenance To Be Performed On Patrick O’Rorke Bridge

On Tuesday, September 6th and Wednesday, September 7th, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will perform routine maintenance on the Patrick O’Rorke Bridge. The maintenance will be performed from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. both days, with traffic reduced to one lane during that time. Also during that time, the bridge will be unable to lift, including for one hour after the end of the work.

The Patrick O’Rorke bridge is a lift bridge over the Genesee River connecting the Town of Irondequoit and the historic Charlotte neighborhood. Built in 2004, the bridge is named after Colonel Patrick O’Rorke, a Civil War hero.

The maintenance includes sealing of the bridge deck, with special overlay designed to seal and prevent the infiltration of water inside the machinery rooms. Vehicle traffic across the bridge will be maintained by control devices and flaggers. Once the sealer is placed, for a period of one hour set time, the bridge should not be lifted until it cures.

Boaters who use the river and the nearby marinas are encouraged to make alternate plans during these times.
