ANNOUNCES “PISTOL PERMIT SATURDAYS”

ROCHESTER – Monroe County Clerk Adam Bello has announced special Saturday hours for processing pistol permit transactions at the Clerk’s Office. The additional office hours will give pistol permit holders the opportunity to add or remove firearms, update addresses, request a plastic card conversion, and complete other transactions.

“The demand for pistol permit services has been surging recently as the holiday season gets underway, and as the New York State recertification process has driven permit holders to update their permits, resulting in many questions,” said Monroe County Clerk Adam Bello. “I know it is difficult for many permit holders to visit during normal business hours. Providing additional Saturday hours is a simple way to enhance the customer service experience, making our services much more convenient for local gun owners who need to perform pistol permit transactions.”

The Clerk’s Office will offer three “Pistol Permit Saturdays” in December – the 9th, 16th, and 30th – from 9 a.m. to noon at the County Office Building located at 39 West Main Street downtown. The Clerk’s Office is also adding pistol permit transactions to the regularly scheduled “Passport Days” on one Saturday per month in 2018. Only the pistol permit unit will be open, processing pistol permit-related amendments and transactions on these dates. In addition to amendments, new applicants can pick up application packets on Saturdays; however, they will need to wait until normal business hours to submit completed applications, so that the fingerprinting and background check process can be done at the same time.

In addition to the expanded hours, Clerk Bello is also reminding pistol permit holders that all permits issued prior to January 15, 2013 need to be recertified by January 31, 2018. The recertification process requires permit holders to verify their information on the NYS Troopers website, or by mail by printing the recertification form. Paper forms are also available at the Monroe County Clerk’s Office. If submitting by mail, the State Police strongly recommend using certified mail. For permits issued after January 15, 2013, the permit will need to be recertified every five years after the issuance date printed on the card.

“If permit holders aren’t sure what the status of their permit is, or have concerns that there are problems that might hinder the recertification process, I urge them to come in and talk to our staff,” said County Clerk Bello. “In addition to our own records and advice, we can also provide forms and information related to the state process and attempt to work with our contacts in other law enforcement and governmental agencies if necessary.”

Final Funding for "Jobs on Main" Receives Unanimous, Bipartisan Approval

Dinolfo Announces Live Traffic Cameras Are Again Available on County Website

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Monroe County recently completed upgrades to its real-time traffic camera system, used by County staff at the Regional Traffic Operations Center (RTOC) to monitor and manage local traffic flow. The new system is a joint partnership between Monroe County and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). As has been past practice, access to the cameras for public viewing is available on the County website at monroecounty.gov and the State website at 511ny.org.

Dinolfo, Local Leaders, Call On Albany To Reverse Cuts That Would Hurt Taxpayers

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo was joined by local Town Supervisors and Village Mayors to call on Albany to reverse cuts to the Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) program as proposed in Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s 2019-20 Executive Budget. Under Cuomo’s proposal, over 90% of towns and villages across New York would see their AIM funding fully eliminated. In Monroe County alone, 28 of 29 towns and villages would lose AIM funding in full, for a cumulative cut of over $3.3 million in funding for local services.
