Dinolfo Kicks Off Explore Monroe Summer Program

Dinolfo Kicks Off Explore Monroe Summer Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo today kicked off the Explore Monroe program at Cosgrove Middle School in Spencerport. Explore Monroe is an exciting and unique program that encourages students and their families to explore our community and keep their minds engaged during the summer while seeing new sights, having new experiences and sampling from numerous area attractions while, at the same time, building community pride.

“With summer vacation right around the corner, we want to make sure that students and their families have the opportunity to experience all that Monroe County had to offer,” said County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. “Through its unique online game board format, Explore Monroe rewards students and their families for exploring and learning about all of the great attractions, experiences and sights that make our community a great place to live.”

Established and managed by the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau, Explore Monroe partners with local businesses and organizations to provide a wide variety of activities for youth. Local partners that have joined the program include the Rochester Red Wings, Rochester Lancers, Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Rochester Americans, Rochester Rhinos, Susan B. Anthony House and the George Eastman House.

Explore Monroe will effectively engage families and youth through both technology and experiences in our community. Each participant or ‘explorer’ can sign-up and track their progress on the interactive website: By signing up, families and youth will earn rewards for exploring and learning about Monroe County. Each partner organization will have a unique ‘Explorer Code’ and once a family visits the partner organization, they can enter the code online and earn credit toward prizes.

For more information on the Explore Monroe program, please contact the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau at 753-6455 or visit the website at Anyone up to age 21 may join and participate for free; however, if under 18, a parent or guardian’s permission is necessary.
